1. In first reaction of Cu, electrons are lost. So, it is an example of oxidation half reaction. Oxidation is loss of electrons.

In second reaction of Br2, electrons are gained. So, it is an example of reduction half reaction. Reduction is gain of electrons.

2. To write the balanced redox reaction, we need to add both the equations.

The 2e- will get cancelled as it is present on both the sides of the reactions.

The final equation is:
