Question

hi, i am confused the naming of the following ionic compound why is SnSe2 > Tin(VI) Selenide isnt it supposeto be Tin(II)Selenide why is Pb(SO4)2 Lead (VI)Sulfate why is chromium (VI) phosphate Cr(PO4)2 why is Cobalt(III) oxide CO2O3 why is vanadium (V) sulfide CrOH3 why is lead (II) nitridePb3N2
can someone give me any explanation? THX why is SnSe2 > Tin(VI) Selenide isnt it supposeto be Tin(II)Selenide why is Pb(SO4)2 Lead (VI)Sulfate why is chromium (VI) phosphate Cr(PO4)2 why is Cobalt(III) oxide CO2O3 why is vanadium (V) sulfide CrOH3 why is lead (II) nitridePb3N2
can someone give me any explanation? THX why is lead (II) nitridePb3N2
can someone give me any explanation? THX

Explanation / Answer

4) Co2O3 = lookO has -2 charge....and there r 3 of them so total charge is-6.... as i mentioned up Co need +6 total charge but here there are2 Co ,so Each one has +3 charge ... so answer would be Cobalt(III)oxide.
5) there is no compound such as vanadium (v) sulfide.....
6) Pb3N2 = look N has -3 charge....and there r 2 of them so totalcharge is -6.... as i mentioned up Pb need +6 total charge but herethere are 3 Pb ,so Each one has +2 charge... so answer would beLead(II) Nitride.

u got it?
