hi there i was wondering if anyone could let me know how the neural plate forms the CNS and the dorsoventral axis is formed.
and how BMP and SHH are involved

?how the neural plate forms the CNS and the dorsoventral axis is formed. And how BMP and SHH are involved
The neural tube forms the embryonic precursor which leads to the central nervous system, that consists of the spinal cord and the brain. There is deepening of the neural groove with elevation of the neural folds leading to meeting of the folds and coalition down the middle of the line converting the groove in forming of a neural tube.
This development will be taking in two ways, through a primary neurularion as well as secondary neurularion. There would be division of the neural plate would be dividing the ectoderm into cell types that include:
There are 4 subdivisions of the neural tube, that further develop into various regions including the prosencephalon or the forebrain, the mesencephalon or the midbrain, the rhombencephalon or the hindbrain as well as the formation of spinal cord.
The cerebrum or telencephalon is developed from the prosenchephalon as well as the die cephalon which includes the hypothalamus and the optic vesicles. Midbrain and misencephalon stay as they are and the metacephalin is developed from the rhombencephalon which form the cerebellum and the pons and the medulla oblongata or the myelencephalon are also formed.
The neural tube opens into Neuropores that are causal openings of the neural tube. If these are closed improperly, there would be defects in the neural tube in the form of spina bifida. There is an alarplate in the dorsal part of of the neural tube that coordinates sensations. There is a basal plate ventrally present on the neural tube.
Following this there would be establishment of the dorso ventral patterning that results in establishment of particular compartments. This division is explained by the French flag model. This explains that there would be sonic sidehog signaling molecules which explains formation of the ventral axis whereas, for formation of the dorsal axis the signals required are the bone morphogenic proteins and the Wnt proteins. Also, the fibroblast growth factors play an important in the positional formation along with retinoic acid.
BMPs will be secreted from the ectoderm. There would be establishment of the secondary signals along the roof plate. This would act in a manner that is dependent on the concentration of the signaling molecule.
