Question
A solution has 6.33 g of sodium nitrate in 0.143 L. What isits sodium ion concentration in mol/L? I am doing the problem and i would just like to verify youranswer with mine.. that is if i do come up with it. Please post asquickly as you can if you know the answer! A solution has 6.33 g of sodium nitrate in 0.143 L. What isits sodium ion concentration in mol/L? I am doing the problem and i would just like to verify youranswer with mine.. that is if i do come up with it. Please post asquickly as you can if you know the answer!Explanation / Answer
sodium ion concentration in mol/L = no of moles of sodium ion insolution/total volume in litres now in sodium nitrate(NaNO3) molecular weight =23+14+16*3 = 85 gm so here moles of sodium ion formed = 1 for 1 mole of sodiumnitrate so for 85 gm one mole is formed for 6.33 gm moles of sodium formed = 6.33/85 = 0.0744 moles now volume in litre = 0.143 lt so sodium ion concentration in mol/L = 0.0744/0.143 = 0.5208 mol/lt (ans)
