Question
How much heat is associated with the dissociation of a weak acid, NaHSO4 in water? HSO4^-+H20 >>> H3O^+ + SO4^2-? (not sure if this is a seperate part?) Is this dissociation exothermic or endothermic? Questions (regarding bomb calorimetry): 1. Why do we use slightly different amounts of acids (HCL and NaHSO4) from the amounts of base (NaOH)? 2. In what order should you mix the acid and base? Would you pour acid into base, or is the opposite true? Does it matter? 3. When should you start and stop monitoring the temperature? How will the initial and final temperatures be determined? Thanks guys :)Explanation / Answer
the reaction will be exothermic 1. becuase we have to get equilibrium as soon possible 2.yeah it matters pour acid into base 3.TEMperature we will measure at hte point where changes are not occuring and stop where the required condition is acheived
