Question

A(aq) = B(aq) The = is supposed to be arrows both directions and says enzyme over top.

Part 1: The G° of the reaction is -3.330 kJ ·mol^–1. Calculate the equilibrium constant for the reaction. (Assume a temperature of 25° C.)

Part 2: What is G at body temperature (37.0° C) if the concentration of A is 1.5 M and the concentration of B is 0.55 M?

I am having trouble with part 1, but if it helps I correctly completed the second part of the question with the answer: -5.92 kj*mol^-1

Explanation / Answer

1)

T= 25 oC

= (25+273) K

= 298 K

G = -3.330 KJ/mol

G = -3330 J/mol

we have below equation to be used:

deltaG = -R*T*ln Kc

-3330 = - 8.314*298.0* ln(Kc)

ln Kc = 1.3441

Kc = 3.835

Answer: 3.835
