ADVANCED MATERIAL Understanding consequences of important physical properties of.. quid X is known to have a lower viscosity and lower vapor pressure than Liquid Y se these facts to predict the result of each experiment in the table below, if you can. predicted outcome experiment O Eventually both liquids boil, X first and then Y O Eventually both liquids boil, Y first and then X 30.0 mL of Liquid X are put in one sealed 5 L flask, and 30.0 mL of Liquid Y are put Neither liquid will boil in another sealed 5 L flask. The pressure in each flask is then slowly lowered with a vacuum pump. O It's impossible to predict whether eitherliquid boils without more information X will form a layer on top of Y nY will form a layer on top of X 45.0 mL of Liquid X and 45.0 mL of Liquid in a small beaker, and The liquids will form a homogeneous mixture. let stand for 30 minutes. It's impossible to predict whether the liquids will mix without more information esc FS FS

Explanation / Answer

The higher the vapor pressure of a liquid at a given temperature, the lower the normal boiling point

so in view of above statement, we can say that as liquid X has lower VP then it will boil at a later stage than Y.

And separation of layers is based on density as well and we cannot predict which layer will be on top on the basis of viscosity alone.

Please give a thumbs up and leave a comment in case of any doubts :)
