Explanation / Answer

In this experiment you will use the ideal gas law to calculate the molecular weight of a volatile liquid compound by measuring the mass, volume, temperature, and pressure of the compound in its gaseous state.

3 (c) there will be an error in molecular weight obtained, this is beacsue pressure induced within the flask will be low due to incomplete vaporization. Thus, the pressure we obtained in measurement will less in comparison to the true value (pressure within a flask is collision of molecules per unit area, thus more the molecules more will be collison but as incomplete vaporization has taken place. No of molecules in vapor state will be low and collsion of molecules will be low too). That is we will obtain low molecular weight.

3(d) there will be two condition.

firstly, if the temperature of flask is high in comparison to room teperature, then we will obtain a higher temperature in our reading and molecular weight obtained will be low.

secondly, if the temperature of flask is low in comparison to room temperature, then we will obtain a lower temperature and molecular weight obtained will be high.

3 (e) Yes, it will create a difference because we use this method for determining the molecular weight of Volatile liquid. Since, water is volatile. Hence, water present in flask will decrease the volatility of our liquid (For our desired liquid). And incomplete vaporization of liquid will take place and same effect as in case 3(c) will take place.
