It is due to the environmental conditions that anaerobes classify as facultative or obligate. In order to survive under oxygen conditions some anaerobes develop ATP though aerobic respiration and in absence of oxygen utilise fermentation. Facultative anaerobes can survive with or without oxygen but with need to constantly change their biochemical functioning as per surroundings.

Specifically Bacillus Cereus is a facultative anaerobe so if you tested it to be facultative then you have not done anything wrong.
