Discrimination in health care practice is against humanity right of equality.Doctors and nurses takes an oath that they will serve people equally when they enter their profession.Albeit , discrimination occurs in health care settings.There are many reasons for this.Discrimination can be of two types

Direct discrimination

Indirect discrimination

Direct discrimination occurs when health care provider treats people in a worse way.To be more clear,people get different ways of treatment and charges.For example, Most of the hospital charges more for abroad patients.

Indirect discrimination means treatment may be similar for all but the way which a health care provider treats the patient May differ.For example, patient with disability has a right to be considered more.

The contributing factors for this discrimination are

*Disability

*Race

*Sex

*Religion

*Linguistic barrier

*Cultural barrier

AGE: people irrespective of their age have a right to be treated equally.But vulnerable group that is children below 15 years and people above 65 years should get an extra care.

Race: patients of all races should be treated equally.Asians or Africans whovever seeking treatment should be treated well.But it doesn't happen because of racism.

Disability: if health care provider hesitate to provide care to a patient because of physical or mental disability for example aggressive behavior or deafness,it is a type of discrimination.

Sex: patients are discriminated in health care setting because of sex.some health care providers don't attend patients belongs to transgender

Religion: patients get unequal treatment because of religion.It happens in some countries

Linguistic barrier: Because of the language barrier health care provider and patients fail to communicate effectively thus leads to unequal treatment
