Is it useful to make the distinction between "healthcare" and "sick care?" How might this help deal with runaway medical costs? What are some of the poverty-related factors in illness that the speaker addresses through her examples? Do you think her organization is a step in the right direction? Why or why not?
Explanation / Answer
The message of Mrs. R through her speech can be considered as useful so as to distinguish between the health care and sick care. She highlights that health care is eating good food and keeping them healthy and sick care is taking care after an individual becomes ills. One can eliminate sick care provision it they could focus of providing proper health care.
Through having proper and healthy food, one can reduce his or her medical costs. Mrs. R suggests that the doctors should prescribe healthy food as prescription so that the patients can maintain their health properly and can avoid such health issues in future.
As a result of poverty the children may not get sufficient food to eat and can result in malnutrition. This can lead to many health related issues and will force them to take proper medication. Hence if the poverty is eliminated and the doctors could prescribe appropriate food which can reduce the illness can help the society to reduce the health related issues.
Certainly it can be justified that the organization of Mrs. R is in the right step of social service. This can be a role model for meant other health care organizations which can build up a healthy society.
