Question

Engineer Alex knew that Regional Manager Adam would not be pleased with her report on poor labour standards at their chemical engineering site in Qatar. Reports clearly indicated that the poor treatment of workers was in violation of best practice in their organisation. Alex perceives Adam to be someone who thinks that their industry is over-regulated. Adam also prides himself as playing a major role in maintaining the public reputation of ACME Engineering Company as a leader in the engineering sector, including employment practices. So when Alex presented her report to Adam, he lost his temper. “I can't believe you'd submit a report like this. Go back to your desk and rework this until it comes out right. I don't want to see any more garbage like this."

Answers to this question will need to use utilitarianism answer the questions posed in the case study above.

Explanation / Answer

if any boss behaves like this, no subordinate can not work satisfactorily. yes, there is a problem and all of them are know to it. then all they should sit together, and find the correct solution to the problem. othewise even the subordinates can not do anything.

some times we may did everything correctly, but we may get wrong output or result. showing angry or scolding subordinates are not the solutions.

in this case, boss has to be call the higher authorities, and discuss deeply about the issue. finally he should comeout with an acceptable decision, i.e. greatest good to greatest number. it is the meaning of utilitarianism theory.
