Question
Let's say that you are the HR leader and you feel there is a need to update all of the job positions. Your organization has 100 job positions and about 500 employees. The cost to update the job descriptions which includes time to analyze and revise them is considered substantial. You want to convince your leadership team that it's necessary. The leadership team is skeptical because they don't understand what value can be realized with making that investment, and they see better use of HR's time on other strategic issues. Your organization does have moderate job changes occurring based on more technology investments. You feel strongly your job description is necessary. How would you convince them to make the investment?
Explanation / Answer
In order to convince the management to invest for the Job Description, I would like to state the importance of Job Description in this context because Job description will allow the applicants to read and understand what actually is required or expected from them. I believe that this will actually help in sourcing the right candidates and the task will become convenient for the HR to select and recruit as the pool of candidates will be relevant in this context. The organization in order to make the process effective time and convenient has to invest on Job descriptions or else the right candidates may not get sourced.
