Question
Select any one of the following companies: Starbucks, Apple, Google, Toyota, Capital One, Disney or another Fortune 500 Company of your choice. Determine what kind of organizational structure you feel the company uses and defend your choice. You will need to consider the company's industry, operations, need for innovation, type of workforce, and so forth. The companies may or may not publish organizational charts for you to use as 'answers' to this activity. For example, Starbucks does not publish a chart, but lists its executives on a company fact sheet against which students can compare their own deductionsExplanation / Answer
Organizational structure is a chart showing key designations in the organization with their functional responsibilities. It may be functional, divisional, product based, line, line and staff, matrix, project, virtual, team based etc. It offers systematic view of organizational operations and hierarchical superiority of people taking key business decision.
Google is a market leader in Internet and technology sector. It is one of the fastest growing sectors. It has captured mail services, video and entertainment, advertising, internet browser, online storage, knowledge providers, location services etc. In my view, Google is working with product based, divisional as well as virtual mode organizational format. It should use team based structure to its various types of product portfolio. It will help it to reduce the work stress as well as highly focused and committed team performance on regular basis. It will reduce the stress at workplace as people will feel as a part of one family having some great responsibility to fulfil.
