Bacteria's Natural populations contain, considerable variation in their genetic material among their vast numbers of individual members, primarily as the result of mutations. on exposure to antibiotics, many bacteria die quickly, some slightly less susceptible because some may have mutations. due to short exposure of antibiotics , these individuals will survive the treatment. This type of selective elimination of maladapted individuals from a population is natural selection.
