I believe that the codes of ethics that are defined are generally written to promote the appropriate way or approach to anything considering the right and wrong in the activity based on the action of any individual so we can state that the statement that codes of ethics are written to guide behavior is partially correct to some extent.

The effectivity of the codes depend a lot on how it is implemented because generally if that is not done then the codes may not be effective at any cost and may fail to guide the behavior of an individual. Corporate organizations today are very much following the code of ethics in order to be fair and being recognized as an ethical organization. Globalization of organizations also have made it quite important for organizations to maintain the code of ethics which needs to be followed by the organizations so that it is recognized as an organization which can be looked upon.
