Question
What are your thoughts on the use of applicant management systems (AMS)? On one hand they enable a company to efficiently filter through hundreds, sometimes thousands, of applications, which might be impossible for a human to go through in a timely manner. On the other hand they are infamous for filtering out people who would be great candidates. Are applicant management systems worth it? How can we (HR professionals) utilize the benefits of AMS without the drawbacks of losing out on great potential candidates who get filtered out?Explanation / Answer
application management system enables completeion of some HR activities in electronic way. In this, the applications were sorted or filtered by this software applications, where the eligible and suitable resumes only forward to the next level and the remaining all are going to be rejected at this level itself. it is a kind or process of minimizing the efforts of human at recruitment levels and also in this any kind of bias is not there.
a system/software screens the applications according to the inputs given to it. It never go beyond this and do in the same way. of course, most of the people says that, it is evaluating people based on the papers. during this, most worthy and eligible candidates may also rejected. It is true upto some extent, some people may not prepare CV most attractively and some may do it. This screening planned based on applications but not based on applicants. if the firms do not plan these in right way, they may lost the creem candidtaes.
even it is not possible to HR professionals to filter the great candidates and their applications by look at the papers. some times they may need an interaction with the people. the better way is to describe their experience, ambition, special interests etc in two or three lines, with their education backgrounds and the same must be attach with the application. then HR professionals look at the description, if they convince with it, they send the application to AMS otherwise reject it there itself.
reading breif matter is ok when compares to reading all the CV or complete resume. Hence, even though there are some limitations, it is providing good support to the HR specilists in recruitment process.
