The most applicable theory in the case is Kantian perspective where the rightness or wrongness of a decision is not about the consequences but the fulfilment of moral duty. In the case, judge believed that the defendants, most of them blacks, could be better communicated to and interacted with in a court free from whites. This was an action, that according to judge, helped him to listen to the point of defendants in more rational way and enabled him to do his duty better.
