The beginnings of the Internet is a video worth watching. It covered all the concepts of History of Internet, including BATCH PROCESSING, TIME SHARING SYSTEMS to DARPA and ARPANET. It also gave a brief note on their working. It was explained clearly why centralized networks were not suitable to the war scenario. what is their drawback, how would they tend to loose the connections. what was the need of Distributed networks?. The core reason for the emergence of the Internet.
Europe's role was vital. it designed a protocol NCP which was essential in order to communicate over the network.which further lead to the design of many other protocols, protocol suites such as OSI which is a reference model which further took shape in the form of TCP/IP suite, which is a back bone of present Internet.
It is not surprising that the main reason behind the development of Internet was a fear of war, because any invention would start and take shape out of a need.There was a necessity of such a network in order to have a continuous communication which would recover even after the destruction.Internet is one such network.
It would have been even more effective if the protocols like IMP and NCP were explained in detail. But the overall video is providing good information with effective animations.
