The work conditions as described in the document mention sweatshops, or the factories meant to produce the garments, where the work was hardly regulated. The expolitation was rampant, work hours undefined and the employee health and safety unattended to. The wages were miserably low and the workers had no unified voice against this. The AFL was the origin of labor movement that opposed these discriminatory practices.AFL advocated for hygienic, safe and healthy work environment, fair wages and working hours and opposed discrimination and expolitation.After initial setbacks, the organization was successful in leading efforts to stop child labor, give health benefits and provide aid to workers who were injured or retired.
