Upon receipt of the new for the necessity to downsize I would first try to find ways within the company to cut cost without compromising the efficiency of the company. This would include costs for materials and overhead funds and I would try to draw 5-10% of the required cuts in this area. My next assessment would be of the employees who work for the company. I would find the least productive members and let them go. If the members who are let go are senior workers who have poor performance then depending on their salary there may not be a need for further cuts. Usually, if you have workers that are ill-suited for their position the other employees will notice that and will not be as upset at the cutback. Once the layoffs are made I would look for ways to make the workload more bearable for those remaining in the company by assigning the vacant positions and tasks to those who were most talented in those areas (Salemi, 2010 ch. 9). I may look for part-time temporary workers or volunteers to fill some of the less experience requiring roles within the company (Bolman & Deal, 2017 p. 129). After doing some math and verifying that the required 20% cut from the budget had been made, I would present my solutions to my boss as well with a description of what I feel would be foreseeable effects it may have on the company in the future.

I agree to the comment, it is important to see and find out the ways to cut the costs without affecting the efficiency. And then opting for the layout decision. It is very difficult to downsize a business organisation because it requires many changes and cutting off many employees and job positions. There will be lot of Chaos and resistance as well as many challenges to bring such drastic change which may impact on the employees negatively. I totally agree with the facts and aspects considered to layoff and removing some employees with valid reasons and arrangements for meeting the workload. It is better to approach the senior authority to share what one have worked for with clear facts and figures which can be beneficial for the business organisation as well as potential employees.
