1. It is better to keep the budget calculations in Spread sheet because it is easy and also for the home budget it is enough. Inorder to use the database unless there is requirement for the storage of large amount of data or we want to see it in different forms database is useless.
According to my view it's is more than good enough. This spread sheet doesn't require any deeper knowledge.Any one having a basic knowlede can operate spreadsheet. The reasons are It is very very simple, easy to use, and etc.

The small business which I know is finance business. In this there will 100's of custoemrs information regarding profession,account etc. To manage all these data we do require database. Using database there is no need to be handwritten or typed information. Reports can also be generated without any complexity.
