The business drivers are to be able to get data in and to crunch it quickly. The budget for the project is robust and allows for the purchase of powerful workstations and personal computers. The designers on the team are pretty well evenly divided between a two-tiered and three-tiered client/ server architecture. They are looking to you for advice. What would you recommend? Why?

In this context, I would recommend to use the two-tiered client-server architecture over the three-tier. This is because of two main reasons. That is when I opt for two-tiered client-server architecture, the cost and simpleness in maintenance should be considered. The cost required for developing three-tiered client-server will be surely require more cost compared to the two tiered. Also it is more complex.
