Question
Think about what it takes to be a successful manager. Think about management at all levels of an organization (first-line supervisors, mid-level managers, and presidents of companies). Also, think about the companies/organizations with which you have been involved and the managers you have had to deal with. Think about how successful all of them were (I bet you can think of a few that were not very effective). Now, answer the following question:
Does management sound more like common sense or brain surgery? Why?
Explanation / Answer
ANSWER-
SO BEFORE ANSWERING THE MAIN QUESTION LETS JUST TAKE A GLIMPSE OVER SUB QUESTION TO FINALLY COME ON THE CONCLUSION-
* POINTS TO BE A SUCCESSFUL MANAGER-
success does not come in one night for a manager, to be a successful manager he/she should has exoerince, knowledge, skills & some below poiints -
* MANAGEMENT LEVELS OF A ORGANIZATION-
Every organization has three levels of management-
TOP LEVEL MANAGEMENT/MANAGERS
* Top level of an organization consists of those people who have the great deal of management experience & promoted to upper level from down level management.this includes senior executives like- CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS(CEO). CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICERS(CFO), CHIEF OPERATIONAL OFFICER(COO), PRESIDENT, VICE PRESIDENT(VP) etc.
all above people are the mind behind of every operation or management in the organization.
* Middle level comprises the people who works under the top management & carry out the work or decisions made by the top management. it includes people like- GENERAL MANAGER, REGIONAL MANAGER, PLANT MANAGER, PRODUCT MANAGER etc.this level work as a mediator between the top & lower level of management.
* Lower or first level of manager/management includes all the people which carry out the actual task of the company set by above level. this level is the muscle of the company beacause the actual human mental & physical efforts are made in this level. this level comprise the persons like- FIRST LINE MANAGERS OR SUPERVISORS,the jobs assigned to them is to manage the office, supervise the shifts, lead the crew, store manager etc.
* compare some successful maangers & some unsuccessful managers-
we know that every company or organization can not be successful & also not every successful management can be successful every time. everyone faces the success & unsuccess in thier life.following are some examples of above-
Jeff bezoz the owner & president of amazon company, in his starting days of business he sometimes failed & thouth about to shutdown the business but now he is the top wealthiest man of the world beacuse he learnt from his experience.
Anne mulcahy,Xerox saw some pretty hard days in her business life even tried to cut down 30% workforce of her company but she made some good decision which made her life turned around & made her CEO of the year in 2008.
NOKIA is one of the company we know which were successful in arena of mobile phones but when android os came then nokia did not take the decision to make phones based on android os instead they kept running theri own os after some years nokia company saw its demise & wipedout from the competiton but now the company is adopting the android os & trying to catching up with the competiton.
so, looking at above points & discussion we can say that management is more like brain surgery beacuse every one has common sense but how to use that is the main thing like brain surgery which is difficult thing to do if anything goes wrong outcomes will be worse likewise in business any decison made go wrong then it will make the difference between success or unsuccess.
*hope the above answer will help you.this answer is based according to my logic & study.
