BIOS:
BIOS means Basic Input Output system. In BIOS screen, we can give permanent modifications to our system. We can set a master password which cannot be opened even in safe mode. At the same time, we can also change the time settings. The time showed in the system can be changed permanently in BIOS mode. We can also enable or disable the virtual systems running in the machine. At the same time, we can enable and disable the ports.
Motherboard:
Motherboard consists of all the ports and circuits that help in running the system. So, for changing the processor on the board, there is a process. in this process, we can change the processor but we have to take care that the new processor is of the same frequency that is mentioned on the motherboard. If any other processor is tried to be adjusted on the motherboard, there is a risk of a short circuit on the board. So, one has to check before updating the processor. Unless the processor is faulty, there will be no use of changing the processor. As the performance does not either increase or decrease since both the new and old processor are of the same frequency.
In much simpler terms, one cannot use an i5 processor on an i3 processor motherboard but can use another i3 processor with the same frequency. and when both the processors are of same capability and of the same frequency, there is no scope of performance improvement in the system.
