Question

1. How do you think that Codd's view of data in terms of relational math affects the longevity of the Relational Model? Do you think the high level of abstraction helps or hinders our use of a database?

2. Linking tables together in a Parent-Child relationship is always done using "Foreign Keys". Once you understand this concept, you have the Relational Database conquered.

There are no physical address pointers between tables in the "data structure" sense. The foreign key is a "logical pointer" from the child table to its parent...it's data that connects the tables together

Do you think that a Foreign Key would make the relationships between tables easier or harder for you to see?

Explanation / Answer

Answer:1 Codd's view of data in terms of relational math affected the logevity of the relational model alot. Thinking of dat ain terms of relational maths make relational database more strong and more powerful. This thinking of Codd's provides new dimensions to the relational model and help the logevity of the relational database. Logevity of relational model is increased with this few. More is explained in the following points:

1) With this Codd's view, we have started of thinkg of data as a relation.
2) Various operations like union, intersection, comes in the picture after this thinking.
3) The name relational comes from the term "relation" which is widely used in mathematics.

The high level of abstraction helps us in using the database. It can me further understand by below given points:

1) The high level of abstraction hides various irrelevent details from the user, so the user can easily understand about the database.
2) We all knew that data systems are made of various complex data structures, so providing the high level of abstraction helps to understand easily and effectivily within less time.
