1. Frequency Division Multiplexing: In Frequency Division Multiplexing, the signals are separated in frequency domain. Signal from each source is adjusted to different frequencies, so that the frequency spectrum after modulation will not overlap.

2. Time Division Multiplexing: In Time Division Multiplexing the signals are separated in time domain. Signals are allowed to pass through common line one at a time for fixed time. Suppose, if there are five signals, then each signal is transmitted for a period t. When all signals are transmitted for period t, then the first one is sent again.

3. Wavelength Division Multiplexing: This is a method of merging multiple signals on laser beams at various infrared wavelengths for transmission along fiber optic media. Each laser is modulated by an independent set of signals. WDM is similar to frequency-division multiplexing, but instead using radio frequencies, WDM uses the IR portion of the electromagnetic spectrum.
