Hudson Valley classroom computers utilize a system called VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure). With VDI, the client running on the physical machine (in the classroom) connects to an image running on a server. (That is, the Windows instance is running on a server in a data center). Currently, the VDI servers are located in a HVCC data center on campus, with an off campus backup facility.
You are asked by HVCC to examine the current infrastructure, and to make recommendations on possible improvements in terms of scalability, server costs, security and reliability. Some are arguing for an approach where HVCC does not own the server farm infrastructure hardware. Some believe having the equipment locally is important.
Your assignment is to discuss approaches, e.g. server farm on campus, server farm in cloud, hybrid solutions and discuss the pro and con considerations with these approaches in terms of scalability, response time, costs (equipment, operational, ...), reliability, and disaster recovery. While you don't know the details of the current implementation, your objective is to lay out the considerations and also what questions you would have in meeting with HVCC I/T in order to recommend an approach appropriate to the organization.

The server farms can be 3 types these resides in data centers which may be a corporate one or enterprise one.
a)Internet: If the purpose of the server farm is to address the intranet related things then it is Internet server farm.
b)Extranet: Extranet server farms usually lies outside ususally these are distributed across various datacenters.
c)Intranet: If it is related to client/server architecture then it belongs to Intranet server farms
Pros:
For the Enterprises like HVCC I/T this can be the best approach to keep their VDI Servers.
The infrastructure related to VDI can be hosted in the server farm for low cost.
Cons:
Maintaing them requires huge power costs.
Server farms in Cloud: Usually these kind of server farms are used by various clients on a pay as you grow model. Customers take subscriptions for the server they need and based on the plan they will utilize the servers. Once the subscription is done the clients might not have access to the servers
Pros:
Good for large enterprises.
Infrastructure is free of cost
Cons:
If the VDI connections increases this may leads to high cost
Hybrid solutions : Hybrid colud model adopts the basic cloud infrastructure model where the clients host their applications on the cloud and gets the infrastructure benefits.
Pros:
Hybrid applications are flexible to deploy large enterprise applications
Cons:
Little costly
Based on the analysis it is better to use Hybrid Solution for the VDI infrastructrure of HVCC I/T
