Scenario: Our company has gone through considerable merger and acquisition activity in recent years, and we're increasingly seeing too much variation in how key processes are accomplished across what used to be parts of separate organizations. Subject: Standard Framework for Adopting Best Process Variations of Acquired Firms
Below are my recommendations on adopting the best practices of the firms we have acquired and the standard framework to address the problems on process variation after acquisitions.
The standard framework may include the below components.
1.Identify the process variations related to our firm and acquired firm: There are many variations in the key processes of the acquired firm and our firm which makes it difficult for the employees to follow. The acquired firm employees are found to be in most difficulty while adapting to our key processes. Hence there should be a standard set of process that should be followed by all the employees to ensure no process deviations.
2. Identify the best practices: Once the process variations are identified we should filter the best process variations comparing with the acquired firm. The best process variations identified should best fit the values of our organization and easy to implement without causing any undesired effects on our employees.
3. Conduct an employee feedback survey: Conducting an employee feedback survey on the process variations identified will help to understand the issues and benefits of the processes more deeply and avoid those which employees are most reluctant to adopt.
4. Implement the process variations: The process variations can be implemented after filtering considering the survey results and should be implemented step by step.
After implementing the components of the standard framework mentioned above, our organization would be able to adapt the best policies and processes and achieve higher organizational value. This will help to meet the interests of both the firm employees and make the acquired firm employees more loyal towards our firm and increase the productivity and profit by addressing the employee issues due to variation in key processes. This is going to provide increased growth and recognition for the organization in the long run. We would implement the process one by one so that employees would not feel the burden. We can implement the most important elements in the first three to six months and the rest afterwards.
