IV. An application real-time uses the network depicted at Figure 6. The server sends a vided to the client in real-time. To have a good quality of service (QoS), the client must receive 25 images per second. Suppose that an image is 10 Kbytes and UDP is used. The network can't send a 10 Kbytes packet, so the image will be fragmented is smaller packets. The control information added to each packet is 100 bytes R1 R2 10 Mbps 100 Mbps 100 Mbps Client Server Figure 6 a. If the packet's size is 1-Kbyte plus 100 bytes control information, is it possible for the server to send the video? Explain you answer. b. If the packet's size is 1-byte plus 100 bytes control information, is it possible for the server to send the video? Explain you answer. (Ctr)

Explanation / Answer

Solution:

a)

Absolutely, 1 Kbytes and 100 bytes will become 1124 bytes and in bits, it will be 8992 bits

8992 bits is for one image

for 25 images 25*8992 = 224800 = 0.22248 Mbps, since we can send 25 images per second

which is very much possible to send sent through the bottleneck of the network which is 10 Mbps

b)

Here there will be the overhead of control information because for every 1 byte 100 bytes of control information doesn't make sense,

10 for 10 Kbytes of an image we have to send 100*10 K 1M bytes of information

which means 8 M bits, for 1 image

and for 25 images it requires 25*8 = 200 Mbps not possible

I hope this helps if you find any problem. Please comment below. Don't forget to give a thumbs up if you liked it. :)
