Question
Dear Experts,
I would need some help with the following topic:
Scientists have isolated genes that cause particular diseases and modified genes that alter organisms for particular reasons (for example, to help beneficial plants and animals to survive under harsh conditions).
Make an argument as to why businesses that develop modified organisms should be able to preserve their property rights by patenting such organisms.
Then, make a counterargument as to why such organisms should not be patentable.
(Essay should be over 1,000 words)
Research the issue online to develop supporting facts and arguments for each position. Helpful resources specifically for why organisms should not be patentable include Web sites for advocacy groups such as Greenpeace and the Council for Responsible Genetics. You will also want to read the United States Supreme Court decision of Diamond v. Chakrabarty.
Thank you in advance for your insights!
Explanation / Answer
whatever the creations made by the scientists, that are the output of the knowledge of the scientist. these people feels previllage and more happy when they invented new things, which gives them more popularity and more satisfaction also. All these are the outputs of their intellectual levels, hence, provided the right to protect those innovations. Not only scientists, many other professionals also do the similar, they invent something, they apply for patient, it gives them commercial viability as well as uniqueness in the market.
the people who want to use or benefit from the innovations, or creations, they should pay some nominal fee and they can use and beenfited from it. the nominal fee or charge is the appreceation to the creator. suppose if you approach a lawyer, you must pay some fee to his/her intellectuals only. similarly, scientists receives some financial incentives to their parental firm or to their personal. It is legal and ethically also acceptable. people expects something to their best performance, when it is unique, and no one have the capability, they expects some more.
when it comes to given concept, the modified organs must be preserved and preven from use by others, it gives the creator to an edge. after some time it is going to be honored to public only, but upto sometime, it must protected and the benefits must offerred to the creator.
If they were offered to public, without any restrictions, also good, but the creator or inventor do not get anything in financial returns on it. hence, most of the people do not go with innovations and inventions.
