2. The background and industry profile of your fictitious company:
John DSouza Gaming Co. was established in the year 2002 with an aim to provide an online platform for all gamers across the globe. The Company was started by John DSouza as CEO (Chief Operating Officer) along with his friends. The head of IT and Product manager was Smith Jones.
Smith Jones was proficient with the security of the network in and round the Company. He always dedicated his time for enhancing the security in all aspects.Ever since his resignation, the newly appointed IT head is investing time to study in detail about the company.
Recently, the company’s share rose from $10 million to $64 million after Q4 (Quarter 4 i.e., last season of financial funding).
The company is also recently in talks with the French startup firm to establish an R & D (Research and Development) center in France.
3. Forensic scenario:
Penetration Testing is the best testing strategy to perform an audit and come up with potential vulnerabilities.
In order to perform Penetration Testing, a Kali-Linux OperatingSystem with metaspoilt framework is required. WireShark software is also necessary to analyze the packet and exhibit the detailed information of the packet.
The PenTest begins with running simple nmap (network mapper) Commands to investigate the number of open and online ports from where an unauthorized user can gain access.
During the final stage of Pentest, flooding of packets must be done to the host network and the outcomes must be documented in a report.
The detailed analysis of Packet can assist to discover rouge access points and deny user access for users without proper authentication.
