Your family run business, Seafood Treats, has been manufacturing high quality fish products and dried feline foods in Halifax, NS since 1974. With the recent retirement of your father, you have been appointed as CEO and while you worked in the business, it was only for a few years while you attended university for your BBA degree. Within weeks of assuming the lead role, you decide that the increased competitive pressure in the industry necessitates a complete restructuring. Presently, your 180 line workers are unionized and they are worried about job losses and your lack of business experience. You are now tasked with preparing a 1-2 page brief to stakeholders on your decisions. The provincial government, due to a recent loan, presently maintains an equity stake of approximately 15% of the company’s shares which complicates things because you need their approval to make any substantial changes to structure or job cuts. The brief outlines what management structure would you propose and why, how you would maximize efficiency in the company’s production, how you would motivate employees during and after the change, and the key points to consider in the change to the new structure.

Business takes lots of decision making process if you are on the higher position. Business is the matter of concerns when it is not in the hand experience person. As I am the CEO of my family business which is related to the fish product manufacturing. It was very short time period for me to decide what to do and what not to do.

As a CEO I will first conduct a meeting with the managers of the company. I get there reviews on how to proceed for the changes. It gives an idea to me.

The organisation structure which I propose would be centralised one. As in the centralised structure the control would be in the hand of one person. I would take the lead and assign the managers for the various departments and they would dissimilate the work to their lower level colleages. Here centralised structure would also ensure the quality of the product. This is as in the centalised control the workers have to have a foundation with the certain specifications. And it is easily to find out the Miss conduct happening and the problems to the business. The maximisation of the company efficiency would be done by keeping the experienced workers fist then there jouniors below their working. It would be maximise when they have the bonus and incentives would be provided to them.They would be provided with the extra time bonus and workings.

There would be orientation programs to enhance the capabilities of the employees. They would have the training class also. They attend the seminar regarding this.
