Explanation / Answer
If employees have been working for 50 percent longer shifts then it is bound to cause problems related to stress and affect their morale and satisfaction levels.
As a human resource manager it is important in this case to conduct survey to understand the stress levels of the employees. This will work as an important source to evaluate their stress levels and work on it. Another important thing can be evaluation of their job satisfaction and how they view it. This would provide an insight into their thinking. Stress levels do not lead to employee productivity and over working affects productivity to a great extent. There are high chances of employees leaving their job for better opportunities in such cases.
A ideal plan would be recommending a strong plan to work on the requirements and needs of the employees. The plan can include utilizing the workforce effectively. New employees can be hired as a long term strategy to address the problem of expanding patient demand. The current employees cannot alone handle the stress levels of overtime alone.
