Some people feel managers should always fight hard to keep unions out of their organizations.  Others say, if an organization gets unionized, it usually deserves it.

What do you think about the role of unions? If you had a company, what would be your view? What insights did the article provide?

Q1.

Unions are the important part of any organization. An organization should have a union club to keep organization smoother form any external disturbances. Actually, there are two possibilities where a company should not grant the unions. The first important factor is, if the company is a startup then it does not need any union membership to run in the organization as the number of employees in the organization is quite less in startups and the second important factor is when an organization takes the self-responsibility to deal with any external issues.

The big reputed organization especially looks for the unions to deal with the external matters and sometimes internal matters also. Likewise, employee grievances or any breach of any employment policy all sorts of organization activities are held by the unions (Kochan, 1994 ). The unions are selected by the organization with a voting system and a good personnel with effective knowledge who are selected as the secretary of the union and he/she take all the responsibilities with his/her subordinates to solve the company issue for the employees and the entire organization.

If I had a company it will depend as per my organization's structure. But my choice is always to have a union club in the organization. As sometimes it is seen that the HR personnel and the managers of the company do not listen to the employee’s queries or does not provide the solutions to any issues. As an owner of the company, I should give the power to the unions to fix any issues and give a positive remark on the side of the company so that all process functions well in the organization.

The article provides a judgmental view on the Unions systems to be undertaken in the organization to make organizations smoother and the problems which remain unsolved in the organization are sorted out with a positive feedback (Streeck, 1993). It is seen in the article that sometimes malpractices or the organizational employees bring outside influence to make it grant in the organization process. The union protects the company from all sorts of violence and tries hard to maintain a work balance environment in the organization.
