Ans 1) The main reason for introducing smartphone ordering system into starbucks operations was to minimise delivery times. A customer could order on his / her smartphone minutes before arriving at a Starbucks store and a barista would have their orders ready as soon as they arrived. It was a perfect way to cater to the section of the populace preferring quick service and coffee-on-the-go. It was also felt that custmisation including the system of baristas calling out the customer's name and serving them as soon as they arrived would also add to Starbucks' image of a perfect world and help increase customer retention.

Ans 3) One possible remedy for the situation could be to increase the number of baristas and optimise total number of orders per barista per hour.
