Explanation / Answer
1) do you like Walmart? do you shop there? if so, how frequently? if not, why not?
Yes , i do like Walmart for some extent, and not for all shopping needs, they have more and great collection of products. Its good place to shop for grocery, the prices are pretty much reasonable. if the Walmart is near to our place then it will have more advantage, its very convenient to bring large amount of products at a time. On the other hand i dislike Walmart because it is always crowded and also there is not enough cashier opened, customers need to wait in the long queue in order to pay. An we cannot go for Walmart just for one item it is major disadvantage. Walmart has enough items so that we will get confused what to buy and what not to by. in the end we will buy such a thing which is not needed. .
2) is there a Walmart store near your area? if so, has it had any impact on your community or on the behavior of local consumers?
Yes, there is Walmart nearby my place, but there are very few numbers. Yes Walmart definitely has a impact on my community , because Walmart not only saves money of customer, it also created tons of job and helped to improve the economic growth. if Walmart's new super center store opens in some place it create minimum 300-400 jobs. Another major impact of the Walmart on community is increasing value of local resident property. Yes, Any local property which is near to the Walmart or any shopping center , the value of the property will be more , which we can't even imagine. There is also some fear in the community is based on the availability of low price products in Walmart, community will think that low price will affect the profit margin of the nearby shops. Still customers will be in favor of Walmart because they will get almost every product in single place.
3) Is Walmart's rapid rise to retail dominance a positive or a negative development of our society?what does it tell us about capitalism, globalization, and the plight of workers?
As a retailer, Walmart is quite successful in business. The rapid growth of the Walmart resulted with some conflicts, with regards the role of organization in the community. For most of the people Walmart helped in order to increase the equality in the society. People who are from different financial background will visit the store in order to buy variety of product with different value. In short we can say that Walmart eliminates the boundary between rich and poor.At the same time the store also helps to customer by offering the customer to make their choice among different product of different characteristics and quality. In this way customers are given with the freedom to make their own decision.
The capitalism and globalization promoted. Walmart cannot blamed development of new mode of retailing. Capitalism and globalization are not completely related to retail, they also reflect the changes in the traditional view of life and their priorities. It would not fair to say that Walmart has promoted globalization and capitalism, but still the success of Walmart shows that people in the worldwide supports globalization and capitalism. It is said that Walmart is an anti union and which pays very less wages for the worker. Most of its workers are survived without having health insurance policy.
4) can a retailer ever become too large and too powerful?
I believe yes. If a retailer such as Walmart which is growing rapidly, and it is not hurting competitor who provides the products which is similar, it sometimes hurts the producer. Walmart will provide as many as products with reasonable price which is affordable by the community. A customer in the local retailer fights for lowering the price and driving the business into their building, but too much of this will be a bad thing. retailer like Walmart puts other business out of business reason is they are not able to compete with the price.A little healthy competition between the retailer is good thing but too much is not good for both.
