Question

The right-to-die is a concept stating that a patient with terminal illness should have the choice to voluntarily end his or her life. Some see this as a humane way to die with dignity, while others condemn this idea.

Patients in the entire United States can currently choose to refuse life-saving or life-extending treatments through an advanced directive, but only a handful of states allow physician-assisted suicide. Each of these states has enacted slightly different laws, but most allow physicians to prescribe a lethal medication that a patient self-administers. Address the following questions in your post.

In your opinion, should competent adults have the right to choose physician-assisted suicide?

Should physician-assisted suicide be legal in every state?

How should we define the term “terminal illness?”

Is physician-assisted suicide ethically different than a patient refusing treatment?

Is it ethical to allow patients to suffer if they wish to end their life?

Explanation / Answer

illness is a state if life when a person does not feel normal. He is emotionally, physically and psychologically isolated from the healthy world. The intensity of such situation depends on type of illness. The highest level is marked with a person has "terminal illness" . Terminal illness may be defined that type of disease which cannot be fully treated and is expected to result in death of patient. These kind of illnesses are advancing in nature like tumours, heart defects etc. Since these diseases result in worsening of patients conditions like physical appearance , financial loot etc physician assisted suicide is one of the alternate ways to die with dignity. This should be made legal but under certian strict formalities. The willingness of normal adult patient to be recorded with fixed number of people from law department as witnesses. since these kind of patients require a lot of Care and financial support they very often become burden on the dependents which results in their abandonment. But the option for physician assisted suicide should be given when there iss almost no hope, these shiuld be special teams to check this in every fixed province. since it is death with dignity it is ethically acceptable.
