1. Is the diagnosis consistent with the location of the abdominal pain? Explain your answer.

2. How are the liver and gallbladder connected to each other and to the duodenum?

3. If Vincent's liver disorder resulted in the production of a "gallstone," what danger might that present for his pancreas?

4. Why are Vincent's skin and eyes tinged yellow? What is this condition called?

Explanation / Answer

1. Is the diagnosis consistent with the location of the abdominal pain? Explain your answer.

Solution:-

Hepatitis is inflammation of the liver, largest gland present in the abdominal cavity of our body, that leads to liver cell damage and cell death it is also caused by heavy alcohol intake. As per liver functions of detoxification, it break down alcohol into toxic chemical compounds which damage liver cells and cause inflammation of liver this condition is called alcohol induced hepatitis or alcoholic hepatitis. Related symptoms are fever, yellowing of the skin and the whites of the eyes , weight loss , fatigue and abdominal pain. As most of symptoms of Vincent are the indications of alcoholic hepatitis therefore the diagnosis is consistent with the location of the abdominal pain.

2. How are the liver and gallbladder connected to each other and to the duodenum?

Solution:- Liver and gallbladder are located in the upper right part of the abdominal cavity of human body and are interconnected by ducts know as biliary tract, which drains into the duodenum, first part of small intestine.

3. If Vincent's liver disorder resulted in the production of a "gallstone," what danger might that present for his pancreas?

Solution:

Gallstones are lumps of solid material that form in the gallbladder. They usually are like small stones or gravel. Apart from other causes gallstones can also form when the flow of bile is reduced due to alcoholic hepatitis , a liver disorder that Vincent is suffered from.As these gallstones can block the bile duct, stopping pancreatic enzymes that needed for further digestive process from traveling to the small intestine and forcing them back into the pancreas. These enzymes irritate the cells of the pancreas, causing the inflammation to pancreas known as pancreatitis.

4. Why are Vincent's skin and eyes tinged yellow? What is this condition called?

Solution: As Vincent is suffered from hepatitis disorder causes damage to liver cells

And a damaged liver can't remove the residue of old red blood cells known as bilirubin from his blood. Bilirubin builds up and is deposited in your skin and the whites of your eyes, causing a yellow color thus Vincent’s skin and eyes tinged yellow. This condition is know as Jaundice.
