As a healthcare provider how would you deal with the above situation? The Provider does not know who is on the other end of the phone, but the person in the room with the patient is clearly discussing the patient's condition over the phone, and relaying word-for -word what the provider is saying.
DQ2: Describe at least one risk management issue related to the scenario. Then describe whether the use of cell phones impacts or does not impact risk management in a healthcare setting. As a healthcare provider how would you deal with the above situation?
Explanation / Answer
DQ2- Risk management issue in this scenario is leaking of the procedure of the hospital. Every hospital have a unique procedure to diagnose and deal with patient and if such thing will get leak to the outsider then the hospital will not able to maintain any secrecy in its operation. It depends on whom the caretaker is taking. If the caretaker is talking with ay family members of the patient then it is well and good. The family members of the patients who are more concerned about well being of the patient should know detail about the patient is going through. If the caretaker is leaking information to any of the competitor of the hospital then it is a serious problem. As a provider I will put a blanket ban on use of cellphone by any caretaker of the patient when doctors are attending the patient or patient is in ER>
