Mastectomy is a condition in which one or both the breasts are removed as a part of treating the breast cancer.

In the given condition, each person has adopted to different defense mechanisms.

The 13-year old girl is using the displacement technique. In this technique, the person tries to replace the present situation with more acceptable or less threatening situation.

The 12-year old boy, the son of the patient is using the technique denial. In this technique, the person refuses to accept the reality.

The husband of the patient is using the altruism technique where in the person gets involved in service activities that brings him pleasure and satisfaction.

Among all the four, the 40 year old woman is facing several psychic problems and she needs special care. She has hypochondriasis where in the individual will be worried about severe illness associated with present condition. She is suffering with self-depreciation where in the individual undervalue herself.
