Explanation / Answer

1. Six basic process of digestive system are:

a. Ingestion

b. Mechanical processing

c. Digestion

d. Secretion

e. Absorption

f. Excretion

2. Inner most layer is mucosa which contains epithelium, lamina propria and muscularis mucosa. Then is submucosa and later is muscularis propria and the outermost layer is adventitia.

3. GI tract possess intrinsic neural plexus that allows a significant degree of autonomy over GI functions. Where as the central nervous system provides external neural inputs that regulate, modulate and control these functions.

4. The components of peritoneum are stomach, spleen, liver, duodenum, colon. peritoneum supports many abdominal organs and serves as a conduct for blood vessels, lymph vessels and nerves.
