CK-MB ( creatine kinase ) measures the blood level of creatine kinase in muscle / brain .
It is useful in diagnosis of many diseases :
1) Acute myocardial infarction
2) In case of new born with cardiac malformation especially with ventricular septal defect : CK-MB level exceeds the total blood CK level
3) Pulmonary embolism and vasculitis : reversal of ratios is seen
4) Some autoimmune disorders : complex molecule of CK and IgG is seen in autoimmune reaction .
Test report of CK-MB may vary depending on age , gender, method of doing test , health history and other things . Your test results doesn't mean u have a problem . Ask your health care provider what your test results mean for u . Test is generally done using a blood sample .
CK-MB is mainly cardiac marker . Level of CK-MB don't rise within 4-6 hrs of heart attack . U may need repeated tests if u have gone under a heart attack .
