I have chosen Amish group to study the deviant behaviour phenomena suggested by Robert Merton. Before going ahead with the discussion, I just want to explain briefly about Amish group.The Amish are a group traditionalist Christian fellowships with Swiss German Anabaptist origin. They are closely related to but are distinct from Mennonite churches. The Amish are known for simple living, plain dress, and reluctant to adopt many conveniences of modern technology. I feel the Amish group can be categorized into conformity group as both the cultural gpals and means of attaining those goals are in conformity with each other.
