Question
Gopnik states:
“If you go back to those psychologists and philosophers, a lot of them have said that babies and young children were barely conscious, if they were conscious at all. And I think just the opposite is true. I think babies and children are actually more conscious than we are as adults.”
She then goes on to talk about brain growth and development in babies vs. our brain functionality as adults. Do you agree or disagree with Gopnik’s position that babies are more conscious and aware than adults? Why?
Explanation / Answer
Hello!
I personally would not agree with this because I feel that adults have a lot more to do and lot more to think and to be aware of I do not see her point anywhere because yes off course babies and children are aware in the sense they cry when they are hungry, they try to understand the environment, identify voice , etc but why and how will they be much aware than adults when they have such little work and things to respond to as in they don't have to go to school or college or to office or they don't have to drive to be aware or pay rent I mean everything is done for them and about the brain development it develops with age and not like a baby with have a brain capacity of a 34 year old. hence I don't think I will agree with the above statement.
