Question

Google Glass provides an information display in eyeglass frames, making it easier for people to view information while on the go. Instead of having to look at the screen of a tablet or smartphone, Google Glass users can see text and images displayed in their field of vision. Google Glass also contains a camera and a microphone, enabling users to take photos and shoot videos from a first-person perspective. Do you believe Google Glass represents a significant new threat to privacy? Under what circumstances, if any, is it inappropriate for someone to wear Google Glass?

Explanation / Answer

Following are the inappropriate circumstances

A new study has found that Glass may curtail your natural peripheral vision. This is extremely dangerous because it may create blind spots that undermine safety while you engage in everyday tasks like driving or walking. The study compared wearing Google Glass with regular glasses and determined there is a “clinically meaningful” loss of vision in the upper-right quadrant, which could potentially cause an accident. Those people cannot use Google Glass who already having some issue with their eyes and wears glasses in their daily routine.

·         Surfing: Using Google Glasses for regular Internet surfing is a combination of both awkwardness and clumsiness. Thus, Google Glass is not as convenient and easy to use as a computer, tablet, or even a cell phone.

·         Battery runs down quickly. It has up to 5hrs of battery life. So what’s the use if it’s battery drains out quickly.

·         Limited usability: Its Limited to sending or receiving video/photo sending only to Google+ users. So cannot use it independently where a person is not actively using google +
