Explanation / Answer

Organizational structure is specific ways an organization is set up to perform the activities or tasks to achieve the organizational goals. There are three main types of organizational structure:

In my organization where I worked (publishing company), the organizational structure is a matrix structure wherein there were different departments such as books and journals at the same time there was marketing and sales department working at the same level.

The organization was a hybrid wherein there was strict adherence to policies and procedures and specialization of functions. AT the same time, the organic structure facilitated to adapt to changes and decentralized decision making to a certain limit.

This hybrid structure was effective because the publishing industry is a fast changing industry and the company needs to adapt to the changes to survive in the industry. This was possible with the organic structure and the large organization deemed the use of the mechanistic structure for effective functioning. For example, the company need to maintain the 500 employees along with adapting to the fast paced environment.
