I believe in the activation-synthesis view of dreams. Although the Freudian view of manifest and latent content gives a good theory of dreams being driven by self-consciousness desire, how can this truly be proven? The activation-synthesis view of dreams holds a stronger view scientifically and has alot of evidence to back it up. Technology has been used to in a sense track a brain in sleep. This technology has shown that while sleeping, humans go through a variety of cycles. These cycles, in return, help humans regenerate and prepare for the coming day. To me it makes more sense that dreams are a way for humans to heal and prepare for the next day than to uncover the subconscious.
