The media which includes television, shows, films and etcetera transmit various aspects of the culture. One of the things that most people would be able to associate with, is body image. Body image refers to how an individual perceives their own physical body. Their perception of their own body reflects in their thoughts and feeling about themselves.
Everybody wants to look good, and there's nothing wrong with that, but when women get the idea that women body type for males is skinnier than it actually is, the media reports are responsible in circulating this thought which propagates that a thin body is a measure of a woman's worth. It is the media which make women think the only way to attract men is by being extremely skinny.
It is indeed true that being in someone else's shoes is indeed uncomfortable. It is easy to call someone 'fat'. However, little do we understand that how a person feels when they are a victim of body shaming. It is important to be in a person's shoes and understand the problems they have to undergo for being 'skinny' or 'fat'. Having a distorted perception of one's body leads them to having negative feelings about themselves. Negative feeling lead to lower self-esteem which results them in being dissatisfied with their bodies. It's easy to say mean things to or about a person without understanding how would they feel or the traumatic scar that it may leave on them.
