Question

How do i use the calibration curve for the data?

I'm trying to find the iron content in tablets, but im not sure how to use the calibration curve method to use it.

A sample solution was made, and thier aborbencies were converted to the calibration curve(Abs vs Conc.) which is y = 1.4057E+04x + 4.1200E-03

I keep reading everywhere to plug in values into the curve, my problem is that i dont know what im supposed to plug in. I have been trying for hours to solve this problem, but with no luck. (let me know if you need any additional data)

Explanation / Answer

this one is the equation of straight line which you you might have got for standard solutions you used for calibration

here Concentration=x and Absorbance A=y

you might have determied the absorbance of your unknown sample (y-intercept value) whose value could be pluged in this equation which gives you the value of concentration of unown sample

y = 1.4057E+04x + 4.1200E-03

where 1.4057E+04 is the value of slope=m=dy/dx and 4.1200E-03 intercept (the value of absorbance for blank)
